This post brought to you in partnership with Walmart.

I know, I know, I promised an office update awhiiiiiile ago on Instagram. I finally organized it a bit and took pictures. I’m pretty excited about the progress! It’s calm and bright and helps me tune out the chaos of everyday life. I really like a clean, uncluttered and light space to work in.

And in case you’re interested, you can see the before shots on my Instagram stories labelled “my home”. And the sources you don’t see on this post you can find on my older office post here!

First things first, I needed a rug in here. I went without one for a really long time, because I just couldn’t find the ONE. This rug from Walmart is super, super soft and I love the tonal colors and subtle pattern. It wish it was tad bit bigger, but I think it’s perfect for right now!

Next up I had to replace the awful light fixture that was in here before. I wavered back and forth on the light fixture for awhile. I bought more than one, but the one I chose makes me SO happy! It has 3 bulbs like I wanted. It’s not too long (didn’t want to knock heads). And I adore the warm brass finish and seeded glass finish. It fits this older house perfectly. The other ones I chose were more modern or kind of retro, which were also fun, but in the end I wanted to stay true to the vibe of the house. And for even more lighting, this reasonably priced task lamp was just the ticket. I was able to bring in a little of that modern-vibe with it too.

I found everything I was looking for on Walmart’s website. Their home selection has really impressed me lately! I had no idea how robust their website has gotten. And you guys know how much I love shopping online! Nothing beats having everything delivered to your door! No dealing with crowds, lines or hunting down products aisle-to-aisle.

I’m still hunting for a good stool. Even though I have a standing desk, it’s nice to be able to take a sitting break every once and awhile. I really want a stool that has some warm, natural texture. It also needs to scoot completely under the desk, so it won’t get in the way when I’m standing. I’d also prefer it to have a cushion – definitely more comfortable that way. And since my desk isn’t adjustable, the stool needs to be. And if not, it has to be the perfect height for ergonomics. Tough find, right? Let me know if you have any ideas.

Lastly, I think I need to commit and actually hang some art on the walls. Not too much though, because I don’t like it too feel busy in here. That’s the main reason I’m not into hanging inspiration boards. Makes it feel too chaotic.

Here’s everything I purchased recently for the space and some of the other items I considered!
