One of the first “grown up” purchases I made when moving to New York was an upholstered bed. Upholstery seemed like a natural choice to me because I wanted something that would look classic and be comfortable to lean against when sitting up in bed. Though I didn’t own a lot of bedroom furniture at the time, the new bed instantly elevated the room from an “I just finished college” look to a “this room belongs to an adult” look. Now that I have one, I’ll never go back. A bed without a headboard just makes the whole room feel unfinished! Here are some of my current favorite options for upholstered beds. At under $700 it’s pretty doable to complete the look of your room! You won’t regret it 😉

How is the upkeep for these types of beds? Sometimes I shower at night before reading in bed… would my wet hair cause problems? Conversely, my husband showers in the morning, would his hair product or oily hair cause problems?
Hi Dawn! Good question. I’ve had an upholstered headboard from Target for a few years and haven’t had any problems! It does get a little dusty occasionally but I’ve found a lint roller to be helpful with that issue.
