Copy Cat Chic Room Redo | Striking Gold Entry

Today I’m really crushing on this pared down gold entry way, at least in part because I’m a massive fan of this streamlined CB2 console. It takes up almost no visual space and allows other things, like this chic wall color and very weird/cool snake sculpture, to take center stage.
There’s also a great DIY opportunity here for the painting that I’ve actually had on my own to-do list. Paint a canvas a very dark navy (I think black might be too harsh) and start layering on textured brush strokes to build up a really nice texture. In my experience, it’s easiest to use acrylic paints because they dry quickly, enabling you to build that texture up in no time without having to wait for each layer to dry. I also use a variety of palette knives (you can buy all of this at the craft store for cheap, btw) to get some really chunky swipes and strokes.
console $379
sconces $85 (x2)
vase $42
art $40
snake $58
basket $35
benjamin moore summerdale gold
TOTAL
$724

Very chic! But the snake… I'd probably put an owl there – lol!
Lol, yea – the snake freaks me out a little bit 😉 Maybe a little lizard or gecko would have been a good touch.
