Copy Cat Chic Room Redo | Chic Brooklyn Bachelor Pad

Plaid textiles, a single twin-sized bed, mismatched furniture…this sounds like the making of a typical”Before” photo, but this room redo is in fact one of my favorite “Afters.” Zach Motl, a Ralph Lauren window designer, created this traditional-with-a-twist space (and in only 425 square feet to boot). Side note: you’re not going to believe his previous 178 square foot apartment. Motl’s eye for design and small-space functionality makes him the king of New York City bachelor living and can teach us all a thing or two about the art of multi-purpose decorating.

I love spaces that make you reconsider your decorating no-thank-yous. Ordinarily I wouldn’t consider plaid textiles, but this eclectic mix has a cozy Americana feel that I can get behind. I also haven’t thought about using a daybed before, but what could be more chic in an office, especially when guests roll into town for the holidays? Unique chairs are always a yes-please for me, but Motl packs six different styles of chair into one teeny apartment! And did I mention the IKEA-hacked headboards? He’s a rule breaker for sure, but I can’t wait to see what he decorates next.
